YOUR JOURNEY
DAY 1 — NAIROBI TO THE MASAI MARA
Into Kenya’s Wild Heart
Your Kenya adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel.
Leaving the city behind, travel through the Great Rift Valley before continuing towards the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The drive itself is part of the experience, taking you from Nairobi’s urban landscape into rural Kenya and eventually to the sweeping grasslands of the Mara.
Arrive at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge for lunch and time to settle in.
Located on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge is one of the established lodges in the Mara and offers views across the surrounding landscape.
Afternoon Game Drive
Later in the afternoon, head out with your safari guide for your first game drive.
The Masai Mara is renowned for its abundance of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes and large herds of plains game.
As the afternoon light softens across the grasslands, return to the lodge for dinner.
Overnight: Masai Mara Sopa Lodge
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Activities: Scenic drive • Afternoon game drive
DAY 2 — FULL DAY IN THE MASAI MARA
A Day Among Kenya’s Wildlife
Today is dedicated entirely to the Masai Mara.
After an early breakfast, set out with your guide for a full-day game drive, carrying a picnic lunch so you can spend the day exploring rather than returning to the lodge.
The Mara is one of those places where no two game drives are the same. Your guide will follow wildlife movements and tailor the day around your interests — whether you are hoping to find big cats, elephants, giraffes, herds of zebra and wildebeest or simply want to photograph the landscape.
Take your picnic lunch at a scenic location before continuing your exploration.
For photographers, the changing light throughout the day offers opportunities ranging from early morning wildlife portraits to dramatic afternoon landscapes.
Return to Masai Mara Sopa Lodge in the late afternoon.
Enjoy dinner and a relaxed evening at the lodge.
Overnight: Masai Mara Sopa Lodge

DAY 3 — MASAI MARA TO LAKE NAKURU
From the Mara to the Rift Valley
After breakfast, leave the Masai Mara and travel towards Lake Nakuru.
The journey takes you through changing landscapes as the Mara gives way to the Great Rift Valley.
On arrival in Lake Nakuru National Park, enjoy a game drive through the park, with the opportunity to look for rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, lion and other wildlife.
Lunch at Sarova Lion Hill
Pause for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, set within Lake Nakuru National Park.
The lodge is built into Lion Hill and is known for its elevated setting and views over the surrounding landscape.
After lunch, continue your journey to Nakuru town.
Check in at Sarova Woodlands Hotel & Spa, located in the Milimani area close to Nakuru’s State House.
Enjoy a relaxed evening after your day on the road.
Overnight: Sarova Woodlands Hotel & Spa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Activities: Transfer • Lake Nakuru game drive • Lunch at Sarova Lion Hill

DAY 4 — LAKE NAIVASHA & CRESCENT ISLAND
Walking Among Wildlife
After breakfast, continue south towards Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s beautiful freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley.
Crescent Island Walking Safari
Today offers a completely different way to experience Kenya.
Enjoy a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, where you can explore the landscape on foot with wildlife around you.
Walking among giraffes, zebra, wildebeest and other plains animals creates a much more intimate experience than viewing wildlife exclusively from a vehicle.
Your guide will explain the ecology of the area and help you understand the smaller details of the landscape.
Boat Safari on Lake Naivasha
Later, take to the water for a guided boat safari on Lake Naivasha.
Keep an eye out for hippos in the shallows and birdlife around the lake, including fish eagles and other water birds.
After the boat excursion, continue to Naivasha Sopa Lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.
Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the lodge.
Overnight: Naivasha Sopa Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Activities: Crescent Island walking safari • Lake Naivasha boat safari

DAY 5 — NAIVASHA TO AMBOSELI
From the Rift Valley to Kilimanjaro Country
Today takes you from the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the dramatic landscapes of southern Kenya.
After an early breakfast, depart Naivasha and travel towards Amboseli National Park.
The journey is longer, but it takes you into a completely different part of Kenya.
Arrive at Amboseli Sopa Lodge and enjoy lunch before relaxing for a short while.
Afternoon Amboseli Game Drive
Later in the afternoon, head into Amboseli National Park for your first game drive.
Amboseli is particularly famous for its large elephant herds and its spectacular setting beneath Mount Kilimanjaro.
When conditions are clear, the mountain provides one of Africa’s most memorable safari backdrops.
As the afternoon progresses, look for elephants crossing the plains, giraffes moving through the acacia woodland, zebra and wildebeest grazing, and predators beginning their evening activity.
Return to Amboseli Sopa Lodge for dinner.
Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Activities: Scenic transfer • Afternoon game drive

DAY 6 — FULL DAY AMBOSELI
Elephants Beneath Kilimanjaro
Wake early for one of the highlights of your Kenya safari.
After breakfast, head out for a full-day guided game drive in Amboseli, carrying a picnic lunch so you can remain in the park throughout the day.
The early morning often provides the best conditions for photography, with soft light across the plains and the possibility of seeing Mount Kilimanjaro when the skies are clear.
Your guide will tailor the route according to wildlife movements and your interests.
Take your picnic lunch in a scenic location before continuing your exploration.
Amboseli is particularly rewarding for photographers, families and first-time safari travellers because the wildlife can be exceptionally dramatic against the open landscapes and mountain backdrop.
Return to the lodge later in the afternoon.
Dinner and your final night in the Amboseli wilderness.
Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch & Dinner
Activities: Full-day guided game drive • Picnic lunch

DAY 7 — AMBOSELI • OPTIONAL MAASAI EXPERIENCE • NAIROBI OR MOMBASA
Your Safari Ends — Your Journey Doesn’t Have To
Enjoy your final morning in Amboseli.
Optional Maasai Village Visit
For travellers interested in experiencing more of Kenya beyond wildlife, an optional Maasai village visit can be arranged.
Spend time learning about Maasai traditions, community life, culture and the relationship between people and the surrounding landscape.
This is an opportunity to meet members of the local community and gain a more personal understanding of one of Kenya’s best-known cultural traditions.

Your safari ends with a drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or another agreed location.
Option 2 — Continue to the Kenyan Coast
For travellers continuing to Mombasa, we can arrange an optional morning transfer to Emali SGR Station, where you can board the train towards the coast.
Continue your journey from safari to the beaches of Mombasa, Diani or Kenya’s wider coast.
This makes The Kenya Signature particularly convenient for travellers who want to combine a classic safari with a relaxing beach holiday.
